I was reading an article today about the influx of methamphetamine into Alaska from Mexico and it made me curious about the availability alcohol addiction treatment centers and drug rehabs in Anchorage. I was suprised to find only 24 substance abuse treatment, alcohol rehab or drug rehab programs within a 100 mile radius of Anchroage, Alaska.

 Now in this article I read it stated 450 pounds of methamphetamine had been confiscated last year. According to the DEA they know meth, cocaine and heroin are being mailed and transported in via passengers from the lower 48 states.

With over 200,000 people living in Anchorage its safe to say at least 10,000 needs help with addiction. It would be nice to have more Anchorage drug rehab programs available to the public. There is no doubt a need for addiction treatment regardless where you go.

You know what I was really suprised to find out about was the violent crime rate was twice as high as the national average. I would have to say this was attributed to the consumption of illicit drugs.

Millions of people seek help for substance abuse each year and the numbers are staggering. These people most certainly did not start out with the same outlook they now have arrive at after years of substance abuse. 
 
Substance abuse treatment in an alcohol addiction treatment program is an intense procedure and if you ever had to watch someone be medically detoxed from alcohol you might think again before allowing someone to just "have free choice".
 
Even at that the choices of a drug addiction treatment center or alcohol addiction treatment center is limited as to what kind of help a person might get. So not only are limited on the subject of substance and the associated effects but we are also limited on reversing the effects they cause.

If you enter into any of the alcohol addiction treatment programs you'll find the treatment offered provides limited hope and is usually of the twelve step variety. Other alcohol addiction treatment center options state there is some underlying psychiatric disorder causing the person the abuse drugs and alcohol or is self medicating. This is nothing but misleading lies and deception because there is no way to tell, after years of substance abuse if the person has any kind of psychiatric problem as it is.

No matter how long a person's addiction has been going on, they still will likely want to avoid getting help as long as possible.
