I was reading an article today about the influx of methamphetamine into Alaska from Mexico and it made me curious about the availability alcohol addiction treatment centers and drug rehabs in Anchorage. I was suprised to find only 24 substance abuse treatment, alcohol rehab or drug rehab programs within a 100 mile radius of Anchroage, Alaska.

Millions of people seek help for substance abuse each year and the numbers are staggering. Nearly half of all the people seeking substance abuse treatment need the help of an alcohol addiction treatment center. The United States has for years been battling the drug and alcohol problem and many advocates of drug policy reform take a, apathetic stance. This makes me think (and know) really that they have a vested interest in getting people on addicted to drugs.

Getting the rehab help needed

No matter how long a person's addiction has been going on, they still will likely want to avoid getting help as long as possible. Soemthing else to do, don't like that place, and a whole variety of other things spoken and thought which prevent the person from committing themselves to getting help Right NOW.

It is right now that the help is needed. Not latter when many more bad things have happened. Help someone get the help they need right now and not latter. [...]
